Pakistan Supports Iran’s Nuclear Program: PM Shehbaz

In a powerful show of diplomatic solidarity, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended Pakistan’s full support to Iran’s peaceful nuclear program during a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.

The Prime Minister also thanked Iran for standing with Pakistan during the recent spike in tensions with India.

Calling Iran his “second home,” Shehbaz Sharif said the visit brought him deep joy. “Pakistan and Iran share deep-rooted historical, cultural, and brotherly ties,” he stated, adding that both countries have agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.

During their joint press conference in Tehran, Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Iranian leadership had expressed concerns over rising hostilities in South Asia. “I am grateful to Iran for staying in constant contact and showing concern for Pakistan’s stability,” he said.

The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s desire for regional peace but made it clear that any future aggression from India would be met with a firm response. “Our armed forces, with the nation’s backing, responded decisively,” he noted. “We want peaceful dialogue, especially over Kashmir, in line with UN resolutions and India’s own past commitments.”

Highlighting broader issues, Shehbaz Sharif expressed a willingness to engage India on water disputes, trade, and anti-terrorism cooperation. “We are ready to talk seriously, but if India shows aggression again, Pakistan will defend itself fully,” he warned.

In a moment of strong international alignment, Shehbaz Sharif declared support for Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, calling it a sovereign right. “Pakistan stands with its Iranian brothers and sisters,” he reaffirmed.

Turning attention to humanitarian concerns, he condemned Israeli actions in Gaza, noting that over 54,000 Palestinians have been killed. “The world must step up and enforce a ceasefire. Enough is enough,” he said, urging the international community to act.

President Pezeshkian echoed the sentiments, welcoming the ceasefire between Pakistan and India and urging both nations to resolve issues through dialogue. “We strongly condemn the atrocities in Palestine. Both Iran and Pakistan, as OIC members, stand united on this issue,” he said.

He also criticized the West’s silence over Gaza, calling it “deeply shameful.” Concluding the meeting, the Iranian President thanked Shehbaz Sharif and the Pakistani delegation for their visit, reinforcing the message of unity and cooperation.

As both nations vow to deepen their alliance, this visit marks a significant step in fostering regional peace and strengthening ties through mutual respect and strategic dialogue.
