No IMF Support Without Imran Meeting, Ali Amin Gandapur Warns Govt

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued a stern warning to the federal government, declaring that if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders are not allowed to meet imprisoned party founder Imran Khan, the provincial government will withdraw support for IMF-mandated economic policies.

Speaking to the media after meeting Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, Gandapur emphasized that his stance is fully aligned with that of PTI and its founder. "Whatever Imran Khan says is the final word for us," he stated.

The KP Chief Minister revealed that it took him two months to finally meet Imran Khan, despite having a court order. During their meeting, they discussed the upcoming federal budget and ongoing political strategy. "If we’re not allowed to consult with our leader, we will not sit with the federal government on IMF-related negotiations," Gandapur warned, highlighting that KP is the only province to have met all IMF targets so far.

He demanded that 5 to 6 key PTI figures be allowed to meet Imran Khan to discuss crucial party and national matters. "The country cannot run on the force of batons," he said. "If negotiations are to take place, Imran Khan is ready."

Calling for the supremacy of the Constitution, Gandapur said, “Our mandate was stolen—not just for us, but it’s a loss for the entire country.” He reiterated that PTI’s struggle for Imran Khan’s release will continue at all costs. "Our war is on, and we will get our leader released no matter what."

Gandapur also criticized the handling of political dissent. “It’s easy to pick up a mic and criticize, but actual work is difficult. We protested peacefully but were met with bullets. Our goal is not to sacrifice our workers but to protect them.”

Reaffirming PTI’s commitment to constitutionalism and political dialogue, the KP CM said that Imran Khan is steadfast and has once again entrusted him with leading the protest movement. “Our demands are for the Constitution, not for personal gain. When darkness is at its peak, it only means the dawn is near,” he concluded, quoting Khan.
