Summer Vacations Announced in Punjab Schools — New Timings Effective May 21

In response to the escalating heatwave across Punjab, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has officially announced that all schools in the province will begin their summer vacations from May 28, with the day itself being observed as a holiday.

Addressing growing concerns over the health and safety of students and staff, the minister emphasized that the government is taking proactive steps to protect children from the severe heat. “The safety of our children is our top priority,” Hayat stated, adding that all relevant departments have already issued precautionary advisories.

In a swift move to provide immediate relief, new school timings have been implemented starting May 21, effective from Wednesday. Schools will now operate from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., ensuring students are home before temperatures peak.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Minister Hayat wrote: “New School Timings = 7:30 am to 11:30 am. School Holidays Start from the 28th of May (28th will be a Holiday).”

While acknowledging that this academic year faced disruptions due to various closures, the minister noted that ensuring students' health must come first.

Parents and school administrators are urged to note the changes in both school hours and vacation schedules to avoid confusion and ensure smooth implementation.
